On June 21, 1949, Linda Darlene Drouin was born in Biddeford, Maine, and she grew up in Milford, New Hampshire, a New England community.
Rosaire Drouin, her father, was a French-Canadian construction labourer. Joyce Taylor, her mother, was a housewife.
They lived in a working-class household where money was tight. Her father ultimately left when she was still a young child because her parents did not always get along.
A short while afterwards, both of her parents got remarried, and her father moved to Miami, Florida.
She was the oldest child, and according to her mother Joyce, she was unable to give her teenage daughter the proper focus because she had so many younger children and stepchildren to take care of.
In 1968, she gave birth to a girl after returning from Boston where she had remarried. Linda and her infant daughter Tanya moved back to New Hampshire to reside with her mother when her second marriage to Robert Kasabian started to fall apart.
Later, Linda received a call from Robert Kasabian inviting her to meet up with him in Los Angeles. He wanted her to sail to South America with him and a buddy named Charles “Blackbeard” Melton. Linda went back to Los Angeles to reside with Robert in Topanga Canyon, hoping for a reconciliation.
